God’s Sacrificial Love
“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16 NIV)
Not only does this statement demonstrate God’s love for us, but it shows the sacrifice he made so that we may live. It was not just any sacrifice, but the ultimate sacrifice.
Having only one child, i can’t imagine sacrificing him so that everyone in the world has a chance at eternal life with God. Thank goodness our father in heaven is not like me. Sending his son to die on the cross for us shows his unconditional love. His love is not selfish or self-centered. Can we say that about ourselves?
God’s Never Ending Love
Give thanks to the God of Gods his love endures forever.” (Psalms 136:2 NIV)
Not only does God love us, but his love has no end. No matter what we do or say, God will continue loving us as his children. His love brings to mind an ever-flowing stream. It has no beginning and no end. His love is always there to comfort; to provide a hedge of protection in our time of need.
“Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,’ says the Lord who has compassion on you.” (Isaiah 54:10 NIV)
This covenant is what binds us to God in an everlasting love.
My Prayer
God, thanks for loving me and for giving your son, Jesus Christ , so that I may have an eternal life with you. Thanks for a love that never ends even though I sometimes don’t show that I deserve a love like yours. It is my prayer that as I continue my spiritual walk you help me grow in grace, making me more deserving of the love you give to me each day. Amen.
