Encouraging Women to Grow Stronger in Faith, Hope and God's Truth

God is Bigger than anything that is happening in this world

A theme on my blog page is that God is bigger; he’s bigger than any problem we might have in our lives and he is bigger than the current turmoil going on in the world.

Right now, the things happening in the world are troubling me as I’m sure they are troubling all those who believe in the living God. Turning on the news at night and hearing lots of disturbing news can bring about a spirit of fear as the world continues to be plagued by war, sexual abuse of men, women and children, homelessness, hate; evil just seems to be running rampant.

There is Nothing New Under the Sun

However, what we must remember is that what is happening in the world is nothing new.  It is written in Ecclesiastes that“What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun. Is there anything of which one can say, “Look! This is something new”? It was here already, long ago; it was before our time.” (Ecclesiastes 1:9-10)

Do Not Fear

Unfortunately, this world has always been plagued by wars, abuse, violence, hate because of our differences in color, religion, language, and I could go on and on. The bottom line is that these things are not pleasing to God, never have been and never will be.   The things happening in the world are not new. God does not want us to have a spirit of fear. In times such as this, he wants us to seek him by praying and asking for his salvation for this world, for him to grant us a spirit of peace. Remember that we have the Holy Spirit as our comforter. Do not fear for God is with you.

Go to God in these troubling times and pray for his peace and pray for this world, and all the things that are plaguing it. Do not forget, God is bigger than anything happening in this world. Seek him and he will give you peace.

Scriptural References:

“Peace, I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your heart be troubled and do not be afraid.” (John 14: 27)

“And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:7)

Amen
