A probability is defined as the chance an event will occur. Nothing happens by chance with God. I once read that what we call a coincidence is actually a certainty ordained by God. So, with God nothing is done by happenstance. Everything is preordained by Him which means it is decided or fixed and nothing will change said outcome.
A World of Possibilities with God
Believing in God opens a world of possibilities built on his promises to us as His children. Once you stand on God’s promises, everything He has for your life will be revealed at the appropriate time, what seems impossible will definitely be possible.
“Jesus looked at them and said, ‘With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.’” (Mark 10:27 NIV)

A Promise to Abraham
Think about the promise God made to Abraham. He said Abraham and his wife, Sarah, would have a child. Sarah and Abraham were both old and the probability of her giving birth was a long shot if you only consider the odds from a human perspective.
“Then one of them said, ‘I will surely return to you about this time next year, and Sarah your wife will have a son.’ Now Sarah was listening at the entrance to the tent, which was behind him.’ Abraham and Sarah were already very old, and Sarah was past the age of childbearing. So Sarah laughed to herself as she thought, ‘After I am worn out and my Lord is old, will I now have this pleasure?’”. (Genesis 18: 10-12 NIV)
Sarah thought because of her age, there was no way she would be a mom. I, too, went through a similar situation. I was in my early forties when God blessed me to have my son. Like Sarah, I thought my chance to have a child was out of reach due to my age. God thought better and blessed me to be a mom.
Consider Sarah laughing when God declared she would have a son. Sarah laughed and I doubted. What a pair we were; dealing in probabilities when God holds a world of possibilities in his hands.
“Then the Lord said to Abraham, ‘Why did Sarah laugh and say, ‘Will I really have a child, now that I am old? ‘Is anything too hard for the Lord? I will return to you at the appointed time next year, and Sarah will have a. son.” Sarah was afraid, so she lied and said, ‘I did not laugh.’ But he said, ‘Yes, you did laugh.”” (Genesis 18: 13-15 NIV)
Nothing is Too Hard for God
God’s message is clear. Nothing is too hard for him, and nothing is done by chance. By laughing Sarah, was looking at her circumstances through a human lens. She was thinking I’m old. My husband is old. There is no way this is going to happen for us. However, we know how the story ends. Sarah gave birth just as God promised.
“Now the Lord was gracious to Sarah as he had said, and the Lord did for Sarah what he had promised. Sarah became pregnant and bore a son to Abraham in his old age, at the very time God had promised him. Abraham gave the name Isaac to the son Sarah bore him.” (Genesis 21: 1-3 NIV)
Won’t God Do It
No probabilities, just possibilities and promises. When the world’s circumstances say no, God says yes. He makes a promise to us and stands on His word. In Him all things are possible if we just believe.
“‘If you can’?’ said Jesus. ‘Everything is possible for one who believes.’” (Mark 9:23 NIV)
My Prayer
God, it is my prayer that we stand on your promises. Your word does not return void. Thank you for every door you open, every promise you make and for a world of possibilities, filled with promises that only you can deliver. Amen
