The relationship you have with God is between you and God. Moreover, this is your walk. It is defined solely by the connection you form with God. It does not concern anyone else.
Worry about Yourself

I was watching a video the other day and two people were talking and one said to the other, “worry bout yourself.” In other words, don’t worry about what I’m doing; you should focus on you. That’s what we have to do when it comes to God; this journey is personal.
That video also made me reflect on a passage in John 21 where Jesus says to Peter that he should not concern himself about someone else and their relationship with Him. Peter was worried about the person who was to betray Jesus, but that wasn’t his concern.
“When Peter saw him, he asked, “Lord, what about him? Jesus answered, If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? You must follow me.’” (John 21:21-22 NIV)
This is Your Walk
Jesus was telling Peter not to worry about anyone else, but to concern himself with following him and doing his will. We must do the same. We can’t worry about what our spouse doesn’t do, what our children don’t do, our siblings or our friends when it comes to their relationship with God. Our focus should solely be on our relationship with him.
“Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.” (Revelation 3:20 NIV)
My Prayer
God, thanks for a personal relationship with you. A relationship where I can be myself with all of my vulnerabilities. I pray that I can focus on the things that help to strengthen my relationship with you for you truly are my comforter and my strength. Amen.
